You’ve heard all the fancy psychological terms. You’ve been bored with lectures about complex behavioral theories and principles. Now, at last, you can learn from someone who has had extensive “hands on” experience in working with disruptive behaviors in a residential program.

Please note: This course is based upon a positive behavioral approach. This course does not recommend or teach the use of punishment or aversive behavioral techniques. This course does not teach physical interventions.

In just one day, you’ll learn how to:

  • Recognize the warning signs of disruptive behavior
  • Avoid power struggles
  • Learn the two words that you should never use
  • Use both words and body language to de-escalate potential crises
  • Recognize the functions of specific behaviors
  • Use positive techniques to decrease disruptive behaviors
  • Use positive techniques to increase appropriate alternate behaviors
  • Discover where to start working on a behavior
  • Discover what reinforcers really work
  • Use the five rules for reinforcers
  • Develop specific strategies for dealing with behaviors such as: Physical Aggression, Verbal Outbursts, Property Destruction,Non-compliance, Self-Injury
  • Develop a behavior intervention strategy that really works
